Buford's 31-point 2Q leads to 44-0 blowout

By AccessWDUN Staff

SNELLVILLE — Buford is not flashy. They don't score quickly. They like to grind out the game and when it's all over, the opponent has a screaming migraine headache.

Shiloh (2-5, 1-2 Region 8-6A) experienced the slow, grueling headache pain as the Wolves scored only a field goal in the first quarter, but exploded for 31 points in the second en route to a 44-0 blowout win. It was the Wolves' (5-1, 4-0 Region 8-6A) fourth straight win.

Buford held Shiloh to just 17 total yards of offense, 15 rushing and two passing, and only produced 217 total yards. They rushed for 160, led by Victor Venn with 9 carries for 72 yards pass and three touchdowns.

Alex Mata's 46-yard field goal came with 7:26 left in the first quarter. That was the only score until Venn rushed in from a yard out with 10:11 left in the second quarter. It was the start of the Wolves' 31-point second quarter flurry.

Ashton Daniels connected with Eli Parks on a 29-yard, Venn scored on a 57-yard run, CJ Clinkscales added a one-yard run and Brett Rogers tackled Shiloh quarterback Sterling Knowles in the end zone for a safety, taking a 34-0 lead at the half.

Buford's massive second quarter shut the door on Shiloh. But the Wolves tacked on two more scores in the third quarter, a 32-yard Matta field goal and a Venn two-yard run.
