MARIETTA — Despite all the changes in the schedule, the COVID-19 cancellations, the additions, and substractions, Rabun County has been able to stay on track.

The Wildcats proved they are explosive in a 63-17 win over Class 6A Pope at Greyhound Stadium on Friday.

South Carolina-commit Gunner Stockton was in complete control, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns and passing for another 326 yards and seven scores as Rabun piled up 542 yards -- 219 rushing, 326 passing -- in the blowout. Stockton's nine touchdown performance set another school record.

"I'm just really proud of our coaching staff and this football team to answer this challenge and sending a message that we play really good football in northeast Georgia," Rabun coach Jaybo Shaw said on the Hardy Chevy Scoreboard Show. "We started fast tonight, and Gunner had another big night. Our defense did a really good job of getting off the field when we needed to. I'm just really proud of our football team and the way they represented Rabun County tonight."

Adriel Clark hauled in eight of Stockton's passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns. Lang Windham caught two scores on 54 yards and Tate Ramey had two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. Windham also rushed for 79 yards on 13 carries.

The Wildcats wasted no time putting the game out of reach, scoring 42 points by halftime and taking a 42-14 lead into the locker room at the half.
