Softball: Lady Falcons keep rolling in 8-4A; Monday roundup

FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch remained undefeated in Region 8-4A after picking up a 7-0 win over East Hall on Monday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

The Lady Falcons wasted little time jumping on East Hall for six first inning runs.  Lauren Hicks, Amanda LeBlanc, Zoe Hadaway, Rylee Rothschild, and Aubrey Bourrie all drove in runs in the big inning.

MaKaela Davis hit a solo home run in the sixth for Flowery Branch.

Nikki Harris got the win in the circle for the Lady Falcons five innings scattering two hits and fanning five. Alyssa Wagner pitched the final two innings striking out one and yielding no hits.

Ansley Ivey and Calli Hardison each had one hit for East Hall

Maggie Banks took the loss for the Lady Vikings lasting just one inning, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out one.


NORTH HALL 21,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 5

The Lady Trojans survived a wild first inning to knock off the Lady Bears on Monday in four innings in Region 7-3A action.

North Hall exploded for 11 runs in the top of the first inning and held off a furious Cherokee Bluff rally for five in the bottom of the first inning en route to the victory.

The Lady Bears never recovered as North Hall added four more runs in the third and six in the fourth to put the game away.

North Hall managed just six hits but also made the most of 15 walks by Cherokee Bluff pitching. In the big first inning, Anna Reeves, Bre Stowers, Kristen Dowdy, Kendal Clackum, Kinsley Kirby, and  Kristina Peach all drove in runs.

Reeves finished with three of the Lady Trojans’ six hits. Peach had a hit and 3 RBI for the game. Kirby and Caroline Cape each had a hit and two RBI for North Hall.

Lauren Rule went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Bears. Clarissa McDaniel had a hit and two RBI for the Bluff offense. Stephanie Condland and Emma Anzaldi each had a hit and one RBI for the Lady Bears.


BUFORD 5,
WALNUT GROVE 1

Buford also remained unbeaten in region play after holing off the host Lady Warriors on Monday in Region 8-6A..

The Lady Wolves(24-4, 13-0 in Region 8-5A) scored three runs in first and two in the fourth and that would more than enough for sophomore pitcher Olivia Duncan, who improved to 8-1 on the season after going seven innings, scattering 4 hits, and giving up just one run while fanning eight.

The only Lady Warriors run came in the bottom of the fourth.

The offense was paced by the Pickens family. Freshman Mackenzie Pickens cranked a 2-run home run in the first inning, her 8th of the season, and freshman Madison Pickens had two hits with an RBI for Buford. Senior Emmy Hall had two hits and freshman Tavye Borders had a hit, an RBI, stole two bases and scored a run for Buford.

The Lady Wolves will be back in action on Thursday playing host to Winder-Barrow in a Region 8-6A contest.


MADISON COUNTY 6,
JEFFERSON 1

The Lady Dragons fell behind 5-0 early and never recovered in dropping a Region 8-4A game at home on Monday.

The Lady Red Raiders scored a run in the first and two each in the second and third innings to race out to the quick lead.

Jefferson’s only run came in the fourth on a solo home run by Mac Turner, who had two of Jefferson’s five hits.

Ravyn Saxon took the loss for Jefferson lasting just three innings allowing five runs on four hits  and one walk. Camoreea Hart threw four innings out of the bullpen and allowed just three hits and one run.
