Brown to retire from Oakwood city manager job

By B.J. Williams

After serving for almost 16 years as the City Manager of Oakwood, Stan Brown said he will retire from the job at the end of next month.

Brown confirmed Wednesday his last day on the job will be February 28.

Brown has a lengthy career in local government service. Prior to his work in Oakwood, he held various public works, engineering and management positions with the City of Carrollton, Athens-Clarke County and Jackson County in Georgia. He also worked for the Town of Castle Rock, Colorado and the City of Laramie, Wyoming in the past.

Brown said he expected Oakwood city officials to have a plan in place by the end of this week as the search begins for his replacement.
