Charges dismissed against former Oakwood city clerk

By B.J. Williams
The woman who had served as the city clerk in Oakwood for the past 12 years no longer faces criminal charges in a domestic incident that occurred last month. However, Tangee Puckett has lost her job with the City of Oakwood.

City Manager Stan Brown confirmed Thursday that Puckett was terminated from her job after she was charged in August.

"The status of her charges does not affect our decision," Brown said in an email.

Puckett's attorney Graham McKinnon, also contacted by email, said the charges of simple battery and obstruction were dismissed, but he said he is not sure she will be able to return to work for the city.

"Her appeal to Oakwood over being fired was denied before the criminal case was dismissed," McKinnon said.

Puckett was arrested on Aug. 22 at a residence on East Bolding Road. The other person involved in the altercation was a 39-year-old man.
