CANTON — North Hall was held to just 112 total yards in a 24-7 loss to Class 7A Cherokee on the road Friday night.
The Trojans (2-1) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Luke Gunter scooped up a blocked field goal by the Warriors and returned it for a touchdown.
But that would be all North hall could muster. The Trojans’ vaunted wing-T was held in check piling up just 83 yards on 36 attempts. J.T. Fair had 55 yards while Cody Smith was the only other North Hall ball carrier to hit double-digits with 15 yards rushing.
Meanwhile, the Cherokee offense took advantage of the Trojans secondary with 247 yards passing. The Warriors rallied to take a 10-7 lead into halftime and then extended it with a touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters.
North Hall will have two weeks to regroup. The Trojans are off next week before playing host to rival White County on Sept. 20 at The Brickyard.
