Yamala talks position change at Hall County

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Srikanth Yamala says he's settling in to his new role as Hall County's acting public works director.

Yamala, who has worked for Hall County since 2005, served as county planning and development director for seven years before the recent resignation of Ken Rearden left the county's public works director position vacant.

"I'm very thankful for this opportunity and I can use all of my planning and development background, especially working the (Gainesville-Hall County) Metropolitan Planning Organization," Yamala said. "I have worked closely with the Georgia Department of Transportation and the federal highway administration, so I can work on several of the large roadway projects."

Yamala said he is in the position in an interim role as the county continues to look for a full-time replacement for Rearden. Sarah McQuade has assumed Yamala's role as Hall County Planning and Development Director.

Yamala addressed the Hall County Planning Commission at their meeting Monday and said he's enjoyed working with the county's public works staff.

"It's not any different from other Hall County departments. The greatest asset is the staff. We have excellent services being provided," Yamala said.

Yamala said he's not worrying about whether or not Hall County names him the full time public works director or if he moves back to planning and development.

"Right now, I am concentrating 100 percent on this job, even though it is on an interim basis. I hope I continue," Yamala said.
