American Legion Post 7 in Gainesville will host a daylong celebration of its 100th anniversary next Saturday at the post home on Riverside Drive.
"We look forward to the community celebrating the American Legion Post 7 commitment to 100 years of service to the Veterans of North Georgia," according to a posting on the Legion's Facebook page, "while memorializing the Gold Star Wall to honor the Mothers of the sons and daughters that have been killed in action during the Gulf War to present day Mid-East war zones."
The Legion asks that you call, 404-536-3831, if you know a mother that needs to be recognized during the Gold Star ceremony, which will begin at 1:00 next Saturday.
The daylong observance of the Legion's 100th anniversary will begin at 10:00 and continue until 8:00 and will feature, among other things, arts and crafts booths, a military vehicle display, kids' inflatables, bingo, food booths and trucks, and corn hole tournaments. There'll also be live entertainment and guests are invited to fish in the cove at the post, from the bank or from their own boat.
