*North Georgia Technical College recently announced the creation of a new community travel club called the Mountain Doers, an organization coordinated by the college’s Economic Development department.  Anyone interested in joining or receiving more information can contact Vicky Frankum at 706-754-7716 or by email at vfrankum@northgatech.edu.

*The Career Coach will visit the Goodwill Job Fair in Oakwood on Monday, August 19, from 11:00 AM – 2 PM.   Experts will be on hand to help job-seekers search and apply for jobs, write resumes and cover letters, discern their career interests, and learn about funding for training opportunities. There is no charge.

*Applications are now being accepted for the next Suwanee's Citizens Police Academy on Monday evenings, September 9 through October 28. *The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians has awarded State Rep. Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville) its 2019 Family Medicine Legislative Champion of the Year, for his "commitment to advocating for physicians and our patients."

*Lanier Tech’s network provider is updating its systems which will cause a complete outage of all Lanier Tech Internet services on Sunday, August 18, from 2:00 AM - 6:00 AM.

*The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is joining shelters across the country for the annual ‘Clear the Shelters’ adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 17, 10:30-5:00. For more information on the shelter, including photos of adoptable pets, visit forsythco.com/animalshelter.  Meantime, the shelter's "Summer of Love" free adoptions are also continuing through Sept. 3.

*Georgia Power’s Land Department and the Citizens of Georgia Power–Clayton/Cornelia chapter recently partnered with the Stephens County Foundation and the Toccoa City Commission to add a kayak access ramp at Panther Creek at Yonah Park Dam.
