Guys, I need $1,000 - it's for puppies

I promise I’m not a bad person. I just make mistakes… a lot of mistakes. I’ve made poor choices. Ran with the wrong crowd. Gotten my heart broken and been let down. I'm trying to be better and I hate to say it, but old habits die hard. I’m….

#LockedUpForGood. Again.

I report to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia to serve my time on August 22.

But it’s alright, because I have a family that loves me. A family so big it spans past biology and encompasses friends, civic group members, co-worker and yes, animals (I swear to God, Smidge tried to hold me the other day while I was listening to a sad song playlist.) They'll love me when I get out, even when I'm covered in dog hair and slobber, smelling like Folex and cold cement.

Maybe I’ll learn from my mistakes. Maybe, if I had just been more organized or less emotional, or maybe if I was just more focused, I wouldn’t have been convicted of Inconsistent Dog Blogging.

Maybe I can change. Maybe I can post more once I get out. Maybe my penmate, Murphy, a 100lb American Bulldog Mix, who has been in the slammer longer than I will be, will have some suggestions on what I can do to be a “good dog” again. Murph, my man. The animal shelter is practically your home and you’re hardly four years old.

Unless I raise $1,000 in “bail money,” I’ll be #LockedUpForGood in a large dog run all day on August 22. I will be covering my incarceration here on the blog, on the air, on AccessWDUN, and on our social media feeds. While I’m locked up, I’ll be sticking to Murphy’s usual food, walk and bathroom break schedule as best I can, and I will rest on a blanket on the floor like he does. My toys will include a notebook and my equipment for coverage – my phone, a power bank and two tripods. My interviewees will join me in the kennel… so if you’re on my contact list and you don’t want to interview in a kennel, give a dog a dollar! Plus, if I don't get out, my editor, Mitch, will be more annoyed that I'm still in a dog kennel Friday morning than he is when I don't post my dog blogs on time.

Help me help dogs like Murphy… good dogs who just need another chance. Click here to donate to the cause and bail me out of doggie jail.
