Just a few days ago, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office released photos of a baby who was found abandoned in a wooded area the night of June 6. Now, they've released body cam footage from the night the infant was discovered in a plastic bag, hoping someone will come forward with information on the baby's identity.
The partial video from a deputy's body cam shows deputies unwrapping the plastic bag and pulling the newborn infant to safety. The baby girl was taken to a local hospital where nurses named her Baby India.
"We are happy to report that Baby India is thriving and is in the care of the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services," said a statement on the FCSO Facebook page.
Authorities said they hope the release of the video, along with the photos from last week, will prompt someone to come forward with information that will lead to "closure in the case."
A tip line has been set up at 770-888-7308. Callers may remain anonymous.
FCSO also issued a reminder about the State of Georgia's Safe Haven Law(HB 391). The law allows a child's mother to leave her baby, up to 30 days old, with an employee of any medical facility including any hospital, institutional infirmary, health center or birthing center in Georgia without prosecution.
