Gainesville man arrested after allegedly hitting nephew with car

Hall County authorities arrested a Gainesville man this week they say committed an aggravated assault with a car earlier this month.

A press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Quincy Marquette Smith, 36, is accused of purposely hitting his 21 year old nephew with his vehicle on May 15. The two had reportedly been in a physical altercation prior to the incident, which was broken up by bystanders before Smith got into his car.

Smith drove away from the scene before deputies arrived, according to the press release. The victim suffered moderate injuries and was treated by Hall County Fire Services for leg pain before he was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Tuesday, deputies obtained a warrant for Smith. He was taken in to custody at his residence on Harrison Drive. Wednesday, Smith was released from the Hall County Jail on a $5,700 bond.

The case remains under investigation.
