OAKWOOD — West Hall found its next baseball coach on campus.

Brannon Humphries is the new leader of the Spartan baseball program. West Hall Athletics Director David Wagner made the announcement Monday afternoon.

“We look very forward to having Coach Humphries head up both our baseball and softball programs," Wagner said. "He brings not only important knowledge and experience but also a high level of enthusiasm.”

Humphries replaces Chad Sage, who stepped down as the Spartan coach earlier this month. He has been an assistant coach with the program for the last four years. He's also the current head coach of the Lady Spartan softball team.

“I am eager to have the opportunity to carry on the recent success the program has experienced," Humphries said. "I have been fortunate enough to be a part of building the program and the culture that has been established in the past four years. We have a talented young group of guys that have had the chance to experience significant playing time the past two years. I believe the playing time they have gotten at the varsity level and in our region is invaluable, and I am excited for what the future holds with the group we have. I look forward to carrying on the trend and helping develop our young men on and off the field.”

Humphries, a Habersham native, played college baseball at Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Piedmont College. He holds a degree in Physical Education from North Georgia College and State University.
