GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville baseball team struggled to cross the plate in a 12-0 five-inning loss to Region 8-6A foe Apalachee Wednesday night at Ivey-Watson Field.
The Wildcats held the Red Elephants to just four hits. The loss drops Gainesville (7-14, 2-6) to last play place in the region standings with just seven games left in the regular season.
Apalachee scored two runs in the first, two in the third and four in the eighth inning.
Corbin Lindsay, Harris Bell, Ben Still, and Riley White all had a hit for the Red Elephants.
The two teams will play game three on Friday. Game time is 5:55 p.m.
