Mt. Airy woman faces child molestation charges

A 26-year-old Mt. Airy woman was released on bond and an ankle monitor Friday after being booked on child molestation charges.

Jennifer Paige Gibbs is charged with aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation, and one count of sexual battery, according to Habersham County Sheriff's Lt. Matt Wurtz.

"On Dec. 31, 2018, Habersham County Sheriff's Office investigators were informed of a possible child molestation that had occurred," a statement issued by Wurtz on Monday reads. "Habersham County Sheriff's Office investigators were able to confirm through multiple interviews that there were multiple underage victims and that the assaults had occurred over a several-month period in Habersham County."

Due to the ongoing investigation, Wurtz said no further details will be released at this time.
