UPDATE: Baseball: North Hall blanks GAC; Commerce holds off Lakeview rally; RMA falls to Prince Avenue

NORCROSS — Caleb Clark and Wes Tadman combined for a shutout as North Hall whipped Greater Atlanta Christian 5-0 on Monday in the first game of a key Region 7-3A series at the Spartans Sports Complex.

Clark earned the victory tossing five innings scattering four hits and striking out four. Tadman threw a perfect sixth and seventh innings to earn the save for the Trojans (4-7, 3-1 Region 7-3A).

Bryceton Payne took the loss for Greater Atlanta Christian (6-4-1, 2-2). Payne went 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs on seven hits and fanning five.

Tate Brooks got things going for North Hall with a solo home run in the third. The Torjans added two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to pull away.
Clark, Tate Brooks, and David Seavey each had two hits for North Hall.

The two teams will resume the series at Jody Davis Field on Wednesday and return to Norcross on Friday.

 

COMMERCE 7,
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 6

In a non-region battle between region foes, the Tigers built an early big lead and then held off a furious Lakeview rally to get the win in Gainesville.

Commerce (6-3) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first on a key error and then increased the lead to 6-1 in the fourth on a three-run home run by Jacob Welch. But the Lions (7-2) chipped away beginning in the fifth.

Lakeview scored three in the fifth on a two-run double by Ian Echols and a Commerce error. The Lions added a run in the sixth on a wild pitch and then a RBI groundout by Parker Allen in the seventh. But Tigers' reliever Tucker Maloch got Holden Cooper to ground out with the tying run at third to end the game.

Chase Bridges got the win for Commerce giving up four runs on seven hits and striking out three over 4 1/3 innings. Maloch recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Tigers.

Cooper took the loss for Lakeview allowing seven runs on ten hits, striking out two and walking one in six innings. Cooper also had three hits and Jordan Thomas and Andrew Estes each had two hits for the Lions.

Lakeview Academy next will travel to Tallulah Falls on Wednesday to open Region 8-A play.

Commerce plays host to Oglethope County on Tuesday.

 

PRINCE AVENUE CHRISTIAN 11,
RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 1

Riverside Military Academy fell behind early and never reclaimed a loss to Prince Avenue Christian Monday in Region 8-A action in Athens.

The Wolverines (5-0, 1-0 Region 8-A) scored three in the first inning and after the Eagles (7-5, 0-1) pulled within 3-1 in the third on a Tyler Martin RBI hit scoring Jack Butler. But Prince Avenue Christian blew the game open with a 5-run bottom of the third.and cruised to the win.

Butler started for Riverside and went three innings allowing eight runs on nine hits.
