Baseball: GHS holds off North Hall; Lumpkin, JHS get wins

GAINESVILLE — Corbin Lindsay and Cale Conley both hit solo home runs to lead Gainesville to a 3-1 win over North Hall Monday at Jody Davis Field.

The Red Elephants (3-2) also got an RBI from Zach Valentine, who also started and went two innings and allowed two hits. Harris Bell got the win for Gainesville pitching the final five innings yielding three hits and one run.

Caleb Clark started for North Hall (0-5) going six innings giving up two hits, both home runs, and striking out 13. Kelton Kieschnick piched the final inning inning allowing just one hit.

Dylan Wiley had two of the Trojans' five hits. Jackson Dyer, Caleb Wiley, and Clark all had one hit each for North Hall.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 6

Lumpkin County took advantage of several late Lakeview Academy errors to score six runs in the seventh inning to rally for the win on Monday.

Lakeview (2-1) led 2-0 after scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings. The Indians (3-2) answered with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game. The Lions reclaimed the lead 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run from Sam Stewart.

After Lumpkin County's big inning gave the Indians an 8-4 lead, Lakevew scored twice n the bottom of the seventh but could not get the equalizer.

Stewart and Parker Allen each had two hits for Lakeview.

Andrew Estes pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts. Estes also had three hits at the plate and scored twice for the Lions.

Lakeview will play again Tuesday at home in a split doubleheader and White County (5 p.m.) and East Hall (7:30 p.m.).

Robbie Brady and Josh Lopez combined for a no hitter to lead the Knights to th win in five innings.

Johnson (2-3) scored 11 runs in the first inning to jump on the Patriots (0-1-1) quickly. Berkmar scored its only run in the third and the Knights plated three more in the fourth.

Freshmen Tristen Nguyen and Dante Root each had two RBI while freshman Peyton Lavergne had three hits with a pair of RBI. Sophomore Josh Lopez also had two RBI for the Knights.
