AUGUSTA — Fresh off leading the Nighthawks to three wins last week, University of North Georgia women's basketball player Amber Skidgel was named the Peach Belt Conference's Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Skidgel averaging 19.3 points per game while shooting 56 percent from the field. The senior guard from Bethlehem, Georgia, led off by tying her career high of 28 points on 11-for-16 shooting, three rebounds and six assists in a win over Young Harris. She finished with 23 points in a win over UNC Pembroke.
She hit 56 percent (10-of-18) of her three-pointers on the week and added 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. Skidgel leads the PBC in three-pointers made and is second in three-point percentage, eighth in scoring and fourth in blocks.
This is her first conference weekly honor of her career.
The Nighthawks will travel to Clayton State on Wednesday to battle the Lakers in their next-to-last road game of the season. Tip time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
