Soccer: Lady Lions score 6 goals in win over Bears; Bluff boys knock off Lions

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Lakeview girls opened their season on fire en route to a 6-2 win over Cherokee Bluff Wednesday night.

Freshman Millie Filson scored her first two varsity goals and had 2 assists to lead the Lady Lions.

Lakeview scored three straight goals in the first half to set the pace and take a 3-0 lead before Bluff’s Jasmine Alvarez scored the Lady Bears’ lone goal in the half. 

Alvarez finished the night with both goals for the Lady Bears. 

Lakeview freshmen Sara Nivens, Isabella Rojas-Alban, and Lauren Scott also scored their first varsity goals.

Sophomore Hannah Perkins, Scott and Filson netted Lakeview’s three goals in the second half. 

Virginia Cobb and Abigail Child led the way on defense for the Lady Lions, while Goalkeeper Celia Wilson-Patino recorded 3 saves.

Cherokee Bluff had three players score to lead the Bears past Lakeview Wednesday night at home.

Christian Santiago, Mihai State and Armando Torres scored for the Bears.

Bluff led 1-0 at the half. State hit a penalty kick and Torres scored a goal in the final period. 

Lakeview scored its only goal late in the game.
