MELBOURNE, Fla. — After two close games to start the 2019 season, North Georgia baseball team scored seven runs in the first three innings en route to a 9-1 win over Florida Tech, sweeping the season-opening series.

The scoring started in the top of the first. After back-to-back singles to lead things off, Bill LeRoy knocked them both home with a RBI single to right center. One inning later, Crews Taylor brought home two more runs with a RBI single to right as well to double the Nighthawk lead. Taylor would score two batters later on a fielder's choice to put UNG up, 5-0.

After Jake Arnold and Nik Levensteins both reached base to leadoff the third inning, Nick Clarno doubled to score Arnold for the sixth run of the game. Josh Profit then brought home Levensteins with a sacrifice fly to give the Nighthawks a 7-0 lead through the third.

North Georgia added two more runs in the ninth inning before FIT homered in the bottom of the ninth to bring the game to its final score.
