DAHLONEGA — In the bottom of the sixth inning, William Mapes hit his first home run of the year to put the No. 12 North Georgia baseball team on a comfortable track to close out Saturday's game against Augusta with a final score of 10-5.

North Georgia got started quickly, using a Bill LeRoy single in the bottom of the first to score the game's first run. UNG tripled their lead in the third on a Nik Levensteins single that scored two runs and put the Nighthawks up, 3-0.

With the score at 5-2 in the sixth, Mapes hit a rocket to left field to extend the lead to four. North Georgia scored four more runs in the inning, highlighted by a Levensteins bomb over the scoreboard in right center to give North Georgia a 10-2 lead.

Despite trailing by eight at the end of the sixth inning, the Jaguars managed to cut their deficit from eight to five during the top of the seventh; however, the Nighthawks never let go of the gas and finished the game strong.
