Who can continue to make history in the 2019 Lanierland Tournament?
The 60th edition has already seen plenty of firsts -- the Cherokee Bluff boys and girls both making their first semifinals, the Lakeview Academy girls advancing to their first-ever final -- while several other teams broke long droughts -- the West Hall boys making their first finals since 2008 and the Johnson boys making their first semifinal since 2014.
The final day of the three-day event gets started at 9 a.m. Monday with consolation bracket games at Cherokee Bluff High School (see schedule below).
In the boys final, Gainesville is going for its fourth consecutive title, something the Red Elephants have not accomplished since they took four straight from 1982-85. They will take on a West Hall team that is making its first finals appearance since winning its only Lanierland title in 2008.
In the girls final, North Hall is looking for its first title since 2009 while Lakeview Academy is looking for its first-ever Lanierland championship.
