GAINESVILLE — The North Hall wrestling team proved it is the best in the county on Saturday at Johnson High School.
The Trojans captured the Hall County Dual Championship with a perfect 8-0 record. It was the Trojans’ second-straight Hall County title.
North Hall wrestlers Damon Campbell (145), Jack Whitmire (138) and Seth Carlton (220) said they've emphasized the team’s core values, being humble and working on themselves, personally and as a team this season.
North Hall coach David Nichols enters this season with another strong team -- a program that should compete for the Class 3A title again this season.
But much like his wrestlers, Nichols is as humble as they come. He also speaks of the team's core values and said they are focused on doing the right things.
“They’re focused on the process of improvement, the process it takes to be prepared and focused on mental maturity,” he said. “We feel like one of the areas that we really want to grow in is making sure that we’re consistent all the way through each individual match and all the way through a dual. We control the things that we can control and respond positively through adversity and I feel like we did that this weekend.”
