Dawson County mobile home fire caused by arsonist

By AccessWDUN Staff

State fire investigators said Tuesday a mobile home fire in Dawsonville last week was the work of an arsonist.

"The arson occurred at 337 Tanner Road...the 1,620-square-foot, 29-year-old double-wide mobile home suffered major damages," said Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King in a press statement.

King said the fire was reported just after 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.

"The residence was vacant and no power was connected to it at the time the fire occurred. It is believed the fire originated in the rear bedroom," King said.

As with other cases of arson, rewards of up to $10,000 are offered to those who can provide information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. The number for the Fire Investigations Unit is 1-800-282-5804. Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can  remain anonymous.

King said Dawson County Emergency Services and the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
