COMMERCE — Commerce scored 22 unanswered points in a come-from-behind win, 22-21, against George Walton Academy Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers' first touchdown came with 2 seconds left in the third quarter. Sam Roach erased the goose egg with a 1-yard run. It was the beginning of the furious march to the lead.
Sam Roach scored the Tigers' second touchdown with 3:33 left in the final period on a 1-yard run. After the Tiger defense held GWA, they put together an 11 play, 79-yard game-winning drive. Roach capped the drive with another 1-yard run with 16 seconds left in the game. GWA was called for offsides on the extra point attempt which prompted Commerce coach Michael Brown to go for the win. Roach answered again converting the two-point try.
Roach finished the game with 23 carries for 107 yards and three scores. Daniel Wilson added 114 yards on eight carries.
