The Gainesville-Hall County Community Council on Aging will still honor former Governor and Mrs. Nathan Deal with its top annual honor, but the date for the event has changed.
The 5th Annual Quality of Life Award will be presented to the Deals on Monday, Nov. 11, a change from the original date of Oct. 17.
Nathan and Sandra Deal were selected for this year's honor, according to the agency, because of their "combined commitment to improving the quality of life for residents throughout Gainesville and Hall County" as well as the rest of the state.
The Gainesville-Hall County Community Council on Aging has been advocating and generating financial support for services important to older adults since 1983. Among the services offered by the agency are Meals on Wheels and programs via the Senior Life Center.
