East Hall's Curry helps Vikings to out-run War Eagles, notch first win

By AccessWDUN Staff

GAINESVILLE — Two teams desperate for a win showed they definitely know how to get it done on offense on Friday.

East Hall and Chestatee combined for 97 points and 1,209 total yards, as the Vikings came up with some key defensive plays to gain separation en route to a 56-41 victory in Gainesville.

Kylan Curry proved the unstoppable force in helping East Hall break into the win column for the first time this season, ripping off four touchdown runs, including jaunts of 20, 18, 65 and 78 yards as the Vikings (1-3) refused to yield a 28-14 advantage in the second quarter.

Not that the War Eagles did not try -- especially Christian Charles. The Chestatee quarterback completed 20 of 44 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 293 yards and 5 scores, as the War Eagles (0-3) nipped at Viking heels the entire way -- though Curry's 78-yard blast with 3:13 remaining essentially sealed the contest.

Each team produced a multitude of offensive heroes -- including East Hall quarterback Zander Mann, who completed 12 of 20 passes for 265 yards and 4 TDs, while Chestatee's Seth Pressly caught 11 passes for 195 yards and a score.

Chestatee travels to Fannin County next week looking to rebound.

East Hall, meanwhile, takes a bye before beginning Region 7-3A play on Sept. 21.
