Hall County has officially named a new fire chief, according to an announcement issued Friday morning.
Chris Armstrong, whose 30-year career in fire services includes stints in Miramar, Florida and Littleton, Colorado, will take over as Hall County Fire Chief on October 29, at which point Interim Chief Mark Arnold will step aside.
"Chief Armstrong brings a wealth of experience, energy and leadership to Hall County," said Jock Connell, Hall County administrator, in a statement.
"I look forward to seeing his clear, innovative ideas come to life as he takes the helm of Hall County Fire Services and works alongside the dedicated men and women who dutifully serve our community day-in and day-out."
Former chief Jeff Hood, who took the oath of office in Jan. 2015, abruptly resigned in Oct. 2017, forcing officials to launch a nationwide search for his replacement.
That search was narrowed down to three candidates in late August.
"I look forward to establishing trust and credibility with the members of Hall County Fire Services as well as members of the Hall County community," Armstrong said.
"There is no career more rewarding than one in fire services, and I am honored for the opportunity to serve Hall County in this capacity."
