Three finalists named for Hall County Fire Chief

By AccessWDUN Staff
Three people have been named as finalists for the position of Hall County Fire Chief, according to information released Friday by Hall County government officials.

The finalists are:
  • Chris Armstrong, fire chief for Littleton, Colo.
  • Byron Dixon, fire captain for Arlington County, Va.
  • Charles Wells, retired deputy fire chief for Gwinnett County, Ga.
The three were chose from among 50 applicants for the vacant post.

Jeff Hood resigned as chief on October 31, 2017.

"These candidates were selected as finalists due to their experience and their clear, innovative ideas for moving Hall County Fire Services forward in a way that provides the highest level of service to Hall County citizens," said Hall County Administrator Jock Connell.

Following several months of evaluation and a thorough review of the department by county administrators, the job opening was posted in June. The pool of candidates was narrowed to six finalists earlier this month. Those six candidates participated in in-person interviews, which helped further narrow the pool of applicants to three.

"We will continue to internally review and evaluate these final three candidates, ensuring they are thoroughly vetted for the position," Connell said. "I can assure you that we will hire someone with the abilities, character, integrity, values and leadership that will guide this organization in a positive and productive direction."

An announcement regarding the sole finalist for the fire chief position is expected by Sept. 7.
