All four area teams that entered last week ranked inside their respective top 10s stayed rooted to their previous spots with the release of the latest Georgia Sports Writers Association prep poll this week.

Buford leads the way for northeast Georgia, sitting No. 2 in Class 5A. The Wolves (2-0) face a headlining Friday showdown with Deerfield Beach (1-0) currently ranked No. 2 in Florida's highest classification, 8A.

Meanwhile, Flowery Branch stayed at No. 7 in Class 5A. The Falcons (2-0) will take on Clarke Central (2-0) on Friday at home.

In Class 3A, Jefferson comes out of a bye ranked 10th. The Dragons (0-1) had a week off after a close loss to Oconee County on Aug. 17 and will travel to West Hall (1-1) on Friday.

And Rabun County remained in eighth place in Class 2A. The Wildcats (2-0) have a bye this week before playing host to Stephens County (2-0) for their home opener on Sept. 7.
