MT. AIRY — Habersham Central football had been in this position enough times to know what to do -- and thanks in part to Tre Luttrell, the Raiders did everything required.
The senior quarterback connected on 14 of 25 passes for 272 yards and 4 touchdowns on Friday to help lead Habersham to a 42-35 win at Madison County.
Luttrell also rushed for 62 yards and played several snaps on a defense that came up big in the fourth quarter of their shootout win.
For his efforts, Luttrell has been named the Conditioned Air Service Athlete of the Week.
After suffering six defeats by a combined 18 points last season and dropping a nail-biter in their season-opener with Dawson County, the Raiders (1-1) showed both grit and skill in keeping another close finish from getting away from them. And Luttrell and his teammates believe it could be the start of something big in Mt. Airy.
Friday Game Night and AccessWDUN sports editor Morgan Lee recently caught up with the senior dual threat to talk about his team's determination and abilities as well as what the future looks like in Habersham.
