BLAIRSVILLE — Union County football got its season off to a flying start on Friday courtesy a 35-6 win over East Hall in Blairsville.
The Panthers (1-0) took a 21-0 first half lead on three touchdown runs from Chad Buzzard, who finished with 58 yards on 15 carries.
A 80-yard kickoff return from Chayton Schafer to start the third quarter put the contest out of reach, as the senior made it 28-0.
New starting quarterback Pierson Allison put up impressive numbers for Union County, completing 24 of 32 passes for 232 yards as well as rushing for a score. Kyle Morlock proved his top target with six receptions for 42 yards, while Cayden Rich (62 yards), Kanon Hemphill (56 yards) and Schafer (37 yards) also caught five passes apiece.
East Hall rushed for just 57 yards, as the Vikings (0-2) finished with 97 total yards.
Union County travels to Towns County next week.
East Hall travels to Woodland, Cartersville next week.
