ATHENS — Commerce dominated in its first Region 8-A contest of the season on Friday, shutting down Athens Christian in a 38-0 victory in Athens.
Nate Ray ignited the Tigers (2-0, 1-0 Region 8-A) on offense, as the quarterback ran his way to three touchdowns and passed for another to help Commerce to a 35-0 first half lead.
Thanks to the Commerce defense it was more than enough.
Athens Christian managed just 64 total yards of offense on the night -- compared with 291 total yards for the Tigers.
Sam Roach also scored on a 4-yard run for Commerce, while Ray completed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Tucker Flint.
Eryck Diaz also put up a 32-yard field goal for the Tigers in the third quarter.
Commerce plays host to Hart County next week.
