DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County’s ground game picked up right up where it left off in the opening week pounding out 487 yards against Chestatee in a 58-0 win at Tiger Stadium Friday night.
The Tigers (2-0) had 320 yards on the ground in a win over Habersham Central the week before. They churned out four rushing scores in the first quarter alone against the War Eagles (0-2) for a shocking 37-0 lead after the first 12 minutes of play.
Dawson County added one score each in the second, third, and fourth quarters.
Chestatee managed 183 yards of offense but sophomore quarterback Christian Charles had to do much of the heavy lifting. He accounted for 120 yards on 14 carries rushing and added 45 yards passing for 165 total yards. The rest of the War Eagles offense mustered just 18 total yards of offense for the game.
Dawson County will take a week off before playing host to West Hall on Sept. 7 in what has become a budding rivalry over the past four years.
Chestatee also will take off next week and hold its home-opener in two weeks against East Hall.
