Oakwood Police and Crime-Stoppers are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man they say defrauded SunTrust Bank by using a stolen identity.
Police Sgt. Todd Templeton said the suspect entered the branch on Mundy Mill Road August 15 and withdrew $8,500 in cash and then obtained a cashier's check in the amount of $27,000.
Templeton said employees became suspicious and attempted to stop the man, but he ran from scene. He was last seen running toward the Goodwill store.
Templeton said the suspect dropped the check, but was able to escape with the cash.
The suspect is described as black, 6-feet tall, weighing roughly 200 lbs.
