The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will hold its Adoption Angel Lock-In Thursday, August 23 and Friday, August 24.
Proceeds will benefit the organization’s rescue and adoption programs.
“It's a humbling and eye-opening experience, sitting on the floor with a rescue, waiting to see who rounds the corner next and realizing these animals are hoping that person will choose them to adopt,” said Samantha Threadgill, HSNEGA’s Development Director. “But it’s also an uplifting experience because we have the chance to help that rescue’s dream come true: To find their forever home.”
HSNEGA is looking for “penmates” to commit to being “locked-in” a kennel until their “bail” has been raised, and for “guardian angels” to sponsor kennels for the next year.
“Adoption fees only cover a small part of the funds needed to ensure we provide all the care and comfort a rescue needs until adopted, so the monies raised through the Lock-In help ensure we are able to provide all the necessary care for the animals we take in throughout the year,” said Julie Edwards, HSNEGA Executive Director.
The goal for the this year's event is $65,000 including sponsorships and “bail” monies. Donations can be made now through August 24 at www.HSNEGA.org.
