New outfitter store coming to renovated Clarkesville square

CLARKESVILLE — Clarkesville Main Street Manager Mary Beth Horton is excited that a lot of work has resulted in the signing of a lease for one of the city-owned spaces on the rebuilt east side of the Clarkesville square.

Monday night, Horton told the city council about the new tenant that was finalized on Monday.

“The name of the store is The Adventure Store by RAK Outfitters,” Horton said. “RAK Outfitters has five other locations in Georgia, so this would be their sixth. But this store is going to be a little bit different because they’re going to combine a retail portion of it with a learning/tutoring/after-school center.”

The City of Clarkesville rebuilt the east side of the Clarkesville Square after a catastrophic fire in March 2014, opening in April 2017. Several tenants are already in place.

Horton said city officials have been working toward Monday’s announcement for some time.

“We’re just really excited to be able to announce it,” Horton said. “It’s final, and it’s out for everybody to know — and get excited about.”

The 1,940-square-foot location of the store is 127 East Water St., which is below Rahab’s Rope.

“We’re just really excited to have them in town,” Horton said. “They hope to be open late summer or early fall.”

Horton said those interested can go to RAKOutfitters.com to see the brands, equipment and apparel the company carries.
