Two men arrested after Hall County manhunt

Two men sat behind bars after one ran from a traffic stop and the other got caught hiding him and lying to police.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said Hall County deputies attempted to arrest 29-year-old Steven Michael Walden of Dacula after finding out that he was wanted by Gwinnett Police for driving on a suspended license and a misdemeanor obstruction charge during a traffic stop Monday, June 18, 2018.

Booth said Walden ran from the scene of the traffic stop on East Jones Dr., near Friendship Road in Hall County.

Later that same day, authorities received a tip that a person matching Walden's description was seen in the Buford area of Gwinnett county.

A manhunt that included patrol units, K9 units, and deputies from the warrant division found Walden hiding in a laundry room of his friend's home on Evergreen Way.

Booth said deputies also arrested 30 year old Jonathan Kyle Liston because he lied about knowing Walden and about his presence in the home.

Both men were booked into the Hall County jail.

Walden is being charged with one felony and two misdemeanor charges of obstruction of an officer, misdemeanor theft by taking, and driving with a suspended license.

Liston is charged with one misdemeanor count of obstruction of an officer.
