JEFFERSON — Jefferson advanced to its second semifinal round in four seasons Thursday with a 10-5 victory over Woodward Academy in Game 3 of the two teams' best-of-three Class 4A quarterfinal series.

The Dragons (24-11) never trailed and scored in all but two innings. Zac Corbin homered in the first inning to give Jefferson a quick lead and never looked back.

Jefferson added three more in the top of the second for a 4-0 lead. Woodward Academy got two runs back in the bottom of the second.

Jefferson's Clayton Jones blasted a solo home run to center in the top of the fourth to push the lead to 5-2. The Dragons extended the lead to 7-2 in the fifth.

Woodward Academy plated two in the bottom of the fifth to cut Jefferson's lead to 7-4 but the Dragons put things out of reach with a three-run seventh on a pair of wild pitches and a RBI sacrifice fly from Sammy Elegreet.

Vinny Farley got the win for Jefferson allowing two runs on six hits in four innings. Patrick Hickox pitched the final two innings to preserve the victory.

Jefferson next will travel to Blessed Trinity on Tuesday in the semifinals. It will be a rematch of the 2015 Class 3A championship series won by the Titans.
