The Gainesville Police Department said Cesar Daniel Villalobos, 26 surrendered to police Friday afternoon.
He was wanted by police after a fatal hit-and-run incident on Atlanta Highway this past Sunday night.
Edwin Velasquez, 25, was struck by a vehicle and killed as walked along the roadway in the area of the Beaulieu of America plant. A passerby called police to the scene around 11:45 p.m.
Crash investigators said Friday they were able to get enough information from the public to seek warrants for Villalobos of Gainesville. Villalobos will be charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree. Police said additional charges are forthcoming.
