Wurtz named as Elections Superintendent for Hall County

Lori Wurtz was named the new Elections Superintendent for Hall County Tuesday morning. She will officially join the department on April 16.

Wurtz comes from Jackson County, where she had worked since 2008. In the past seven years, she served as their Supervisor of Elections and Voter Registration.

"Lori brings a wealth of knowledge to Hall County, and the Elections Board and I are committed to making sure the department experiences a smooth transition with her arrival," Hall County Board of Elections Chairman Dr. Tom Smiley said. "We look forward to working with Lori as the board moves our attention toward addressing broad policy issues."

Wurtz will fill a space left open since November 2016 after the retirement of Charlotte Sosebee. County officials said in a press release officials had been evaluating department structure since that time.
