A former student is facing charges of making terroristic threats and disrupting a public school for allegedly making threatening posts on Instagram on Tuesday.
Raheem El-Amin, 18, is being held at the Jackson County Jail, according to Jefferson Police Chief Joe Wirthman.
Police were first made aware of threats Tuesday morning, and notified school officials at 7:50 a.m. that there was a threat made against the school.
By 8:15 a.m. officers were able to meet with El-Amin at his home in Jefferson, whereupon he was taken to the police precinct for questioning.
At that point, officers confirmed that El-Amin was, in fact, the one who made the threatening posts on Instagram, said Wirthman.
El-Amin was arrested on Tuesday.
The threats referenced "shooting up" the school, but Wirthman declined to get into what they said specifically.
El-Amin is a current student at Jackson Foothills Charter High School.
