Buford wrestling standout Charlie Darracott was recently named Gwinnett County’s Wrestler Of The Year by the Gwinnett County TakeDown Club.

Darracott, a sophomore, won the 145-pound state championship for a second straight season earlier on Feb. 10 and helped the Wolves sweep the traditional and duals state titles in Class 5A. Buford also was selected as the team of the year for its impressive season.

Darracott owns a high school record of 49-2, including many out of state national events. He is currently ranked No. 4 in America at 145 pounds by FloNationals and is looking to improve on that next month in Virginia at the National High School Coaches Association Tournament.

Darracott also was nominated to Gwinnett County Wrestling All-County First team as well as awarded Buford High's Scholar-Athlete Award for the year.
