Baseball: Jefferson, West Hall take wins

LILBURN — West Hall rallied from an early deficit to roll to a 22-9 win in five innings over Berkmar Friday night.

The Spartans (4-1) led 6-0 in the second inning before Berkmar exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead. But West Hall responded with an 8-run third and added three runs in the fourth and five more in the top of the fifth.

After Carter Lott and Canaan Koger were roughed up for eight runs on just two hits and five in the first two innings, Braden Simms and Cameron Shirley allowed just one run over the final 3 1/3 innings to fuel the comeback.

Kyle Murphy led a 14-hit attack with three hts. Jeffrey Jenkins and Gabe Allison had two hits each. Allison knocked in four runs, Jenkins had thee RBI, and Lott, Dylan Simpson, Peyton Randozzo, and Murphy each had two RBI for the Spartans.

Jefferson scored all three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Lane Watkins, and then held on Friday night.

Tattnall scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Patrick Hickox earned the win going 5 2/3 innings allowing one earned run on six hits and fanned four. Vinny Farley got the save retring all four batters he faced.

Watkins finished with thee hits and Zac Corbin had two hits for the Dragons.

Jefferson (3-1) continued play in the Athens Christian on Saturday.
