STATE CHAMPS: Commerce, Jefferson, Buford defend Traditional wrestling titles

MACON — Commerce, Jefferson, and Buford defended their Traditional wrestling titles Saturday at the Macon Coliseum.

Commerce won its fifth straight Class A crown posting 212 points. The Darlington school finished second with 113.5 points.Towns County finished 11th with 35 points and Riverside Military Academy was 15th with 26 points.

In Class AAAA, Jefferson won its 18th consecutive Traditionals title tallying 228.5 points holding off second place West Laurens, who had 190 points. Chestatee finished 10th with 46 points and White County was 17th with 36 points. West Hall was 26th with 21 points.

In Class AAAAA, Buford defended its title outdistancing Union Grove 206 to 156.5. Flowery Branch finished 16th with 38.5 points

In Class AAA, North Hall could not pull off the double title season after winning the Duals last month. The Trojans finished third with 117 points. Sonoraville won the AAA title with 132 points. Lumpkin County was fifth with 74.5 points, Jackson County eighth with 51 points, Dawson County 17th with 20 points, and East Hall was 25th with 9 points.

In Class AAAAAAA, North Forsyth finished second with 115 points edging out powerhouses Archer (114) and Collins Hill (110) for the runner-up spot.

In Class AA, Banks County finished 14th with 27 points.
