Several metro area voting precincts must stay open late

Several voting precincts across metro Atlanta will remain open later than the others after early morning issues caused delays.

The AJC reports Gwinnett County's Pinckeyville Community Center, which serves voters in Norcross and Peachtree Corners, and the Knight Elementary School precinct serving voters in Lilburn both opened 15 minutes late.

In Fulton County, the Joseph D. McGhee Tennis Center precinct on Beecher Court in Atlanta opened late as well. However, the polling manager at the Life Center Ministries polling place, at 2690 Mt. Vernon Road, lost a stack of voter access cards used in the electronic voting machine.

Voters were forced to use provisional ballots until those ran out just after 8:00 a.m., but more cards showed up around 9:00 a.m.

In Cobb County, someone reported seeing a man near an elementary school with a gun, prompting a lockdown, which also caused the voting in that location to be delayed.
