Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested a man from Mexico and charged him with rape, cruelty to children and false imprisonment.
Deputies arrested Luis Amaro Vazquez, 33, Tuesday, Nov. 13. The suspect had been under investigation since October, according to information from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is assisting in the probe.
The GBI said the agent investigating the case was able to corroborate the allegations with assistance from a bilingual detective with the Gainesville Police Department.
Vasquez is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of cruelty to children and one count of false imprisonment.
Vazquez is being held in the Lumpkin County Jail.
