OAKWOOD — West Hall scored on all seven of its first half possessions en route to a 62-19 win over Chestatee Friday night at Spartans Stadium in both teams’ Region 7-4A season finales.
Chestatee (1-9, 0-6 Region 7-4A) actually took the first lead scoring on its opening possession on a 4-yard run from Christian Charles but a 2-point pass failed to make it 6-0.
The Spartans (3-7, 2-4) answered quickly with a 10-yard touchdown run to take the lead for good 7-6. The West Hall defense then picked off the first of three Charles passes and cashed in on an 11-yard touchdown run for a 14-6 lead.
The War Eagles pulled within 14-12 on a 48-yard touchdown run by Charles but West Hall exploded for 42 points over the final 17 minutes of the first half to go into halftime with a 56-12 lead. The Spartans stopped Chestatee on downs and picked off two Charles passes during the barrage with each leading to short touchdown drives.
West Hall also got a pair of defensive scores returning two Chestatee fumbles for touchdowns.
Charles accounted for 331 of the War Eagles 334 total yards. He passed for 269 yards and ran for another 62 yards. Wide receiver Seth Pressley had another huge game for Chestatee with 12 catches for 222 yards.
