Lawrenceville police find burning body inside vehicle

Investigators with the Lawrenceville Police Department are trying to identify a body found badly burned inside a car outside a subdivision clubhouse early Tuesday morning.

Gwinnett Fire Captain Tommy Rutledge confirmed crews responded to a call in the Springlake Cove Subdivision around 3:30 a.m. and he said once they extinguished the flames, they found a charred body inside the burned vehicle.

Authorities identified the owner of the car, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  The person found inside was described as being small in stature, but at this point there's been no identification of the body.

The incident is being investigated as an arson and homicide.
