Lawrenceville man arrested for armed robbery of Forsyth County restaurant

A Lawrenceville man is facing eight felony counts for the armed robbery of a Forsyth County fast food restaurant early Saturday morning.

Kaleen Tariq-Madyun, 35, allegedly forced employees at the McDonald's on Keith Bridge Road into a "refrigerated area," and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a social media state issued by Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman.

The crime happened around 5 a.m.

"[Deputies] quickly responded and secured the scene. Detectives with the FCSO Major Crimes Unit, acting on keen observations by patrol deputies, were able to develop a potential lead in the robbery. Working non-stop late into the evening, detectives identified a suspect and located him in Lawrenceville," said Freeman.

Tariq-Madyun is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault and one count of armed robbery.

He was booked into the Forsyth County Jail Sunday.

"I am extremely proud of the incredible teamwork of our North Precinct patrol deputies and detectives in quickly taking this dangerous suspect off the streets. Career criminals need to take notice that Forsyth is not open for their kind of business. Violent crimes are rare in Forsyth and we will work tirelessly to keep it that way," said Freeman.
